A sweet & savory appetizer sure to be a crowd pleaser! Cooking in ghee gives this bread the perfect crunch. Feel free to improvise with additional toppings — we love it with peach slices in the summer!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 3 tbsp SayGhee Original Ghee
- Salt
- 8 thin slices sourdough bread
- 1 small disk washed-rind cheese, such as Camembert
Instructions:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1½ tbsp SayGhee, and a pinch of salt.
- Add 4 slices of bread and immediately flip to coat in syrup mixture.
- Cook, flipping often, until the bread is lacquered and toasted (about 4 minutes).
- Transfer to an oiled plate. Repeat with remaining syrup, ghee, and bread.
- Smear soft cheese on the warm bread and serve immediately.
