Orange Ghee Cake

A fragrant, fluffy citrus cake enriched with Original SayGhee and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar. Bright, buttery, and beautifully moist.

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup SayGhee Original Ghee
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 1¼ cup whole milk (or non-dairy milk), room temperature
  • Zest of 2 large oranges
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 4 tsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. Melt ghee and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, rub orange zest into sugar until fragrant and sandy.
  4. Add eggs and whisk until thick and smooth.
  5. Slowly add melted ghee while whisking. Stir in almond extract, milk, and orange juice.
  6. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix until fully incorporated.
  7. Pour into prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until deep golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Optional: serve with whipped cream or berries.
